Recalibrating Me: A Journey of Motherhood and Professional Growth

Recalibrating Me:

A journey of self-discovery, balancing motherhood, tech learning, and self-care to build a stronger, smarter, and healthier me.

Hi, I’m Jenn – welcome to Recalibrating Me, my space for growth, balance, and rediscovery.

I created this blog to build the kind of community I’ve been searching for—a space for women, whether mothers or not, who are looking to recalibrate their lives and thrive.

A little about me: I’m a mom to a one-year-old little boy who completely turned my world upside down in the best (and hardest) way possible. Shortly after returning from maternity leave, I was laid off from a company I had been with for eight years. Losing that sense of security while navigating new motherhood and trying to redefine myself professionally was overwhelming. Anxiety, shame, and imposter syndrome took over, and for months, I felt like I was drowning.

My career started in tech as a manual software tester, eventually evolving into an automation engineer. But with my experience tied to a niche, in-house framework, I struggled to find my place in an increasingly competitive job market. After relentless searching, I landed a new role that I thought would provide stability—only to find myself facing uncertainty again due to external factors. The stress reignited unhealthy patterns of sleepless nights, loss of appetite, and creeping depression.

At my lowest, my husband suggested I start a blog. At the time, I laughed it off—how could I focus on writing when my only priority was finding a job? But now, I realize that mindset wasn’t healthy. I need an outlet, a space for myself, and a way to connect with others who feel the same—women who are trying to regain control in different aspects of their lives.

This blog is more than just a place to talk about motherhood, career shifts, or self-care. It’s about all of it—because as women, and especially as mothers, we carry so much. Recalibrating Me is my way of taking control of my journey, starting with earning my AWS Cloud Practitioner certification. I’m hoping this path leads to better job security, financial stability, and a future that feels less uncertain.

Maybe this blog will be my personal echo chamber—or maybe it will grow into something more. Either way, I’m here, I’m trying, and I hope you’ll try with me.

Let’s recalibrate together.
